Have you ever test-driven a potential new car, only to have a rap artist freestyle a list of its perks and features to you? Neither have we, but thanks to a collaboration between Mitsubishi and That Girl Lay Lay, the new Mitsubishi ad campaign “Punking the Test Drive” is taking drivers by surprise.
Alaya “That Girl Lay Lay” High is an 11-year-old girl who also happens to be the music industry’s youngest-ever female rap artist with a record deal. She’s following in the footsteps of previous Mitsubishi collaborators like freestyle rapper Harry Mack and reputable voice-over narrator Jon Bailey in providing a new and entertaining experience for test drivers. But That Girl Lay Lay brings her own brand of surprises to the table. Posing as a Mitsubishi sales associate’s daughter, she joins families as they ride in the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander — until her “father” switches on the sound system for a “test,” giving her an instrumental to which she can rattle off the Outlander’s long list of features in style.
The new Mitsubishi
