After the 2019 model year earned itself an IIHS Top Safety Pick title, it’s no surprise the 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross claimed a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. The Eclipse Cross offers advanced safety features to deliver a reassuring drive, whether you’re flying solo or bringing the whole family.
Four- and Five-Star Crash Test Ratings
The Eclipse Cross was tested by the NHTSA through the New Car Assessment Program. In order to receive an Overall score of five stars with the NHTSA, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross needed to get five stars in nearly each crash test category. Passenger safety in frontal crash tests scored at five stars. Both side crash tests, involving driver and passenger, earned five-star ratings, while only the driver in the front test and the rollover test earned four stars.
These days, it’s not just enough for a vehicle to hold up and protect passengers in a collision. Safety ratings also takes into account the vehicle’s ability to help you avoid a collision. The NHTSA recommends available safety systems on the 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and an automatic braking feature that comes with the Forward Collision Mitigation System. Best of all, the Eclipse Cross offers more safety features for the 2020 model year than the previous model year.
