There is no denying the growing popularity and allure of driving an electric car. For many people, they want to live a greener lifestyle, while others want to be able to save on fuel costs. Whatever your reason for wanting something electric, it is a good one. As the popularity increases, the technology improves. For the 2019 model year, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV’s battery life is getting even better.
Mitsubishi has announced a 10 percent increase in its battery capacity. This comes from a switch to a 2.4-liter Atkinson Cycle inline four-cylinder engine, compared to a 2.0-liter engine for the 2018 model year. With this new engine and its new 13.8 kWh battery pack, it will offer an electric driving range of 28 miles. The 2018 model has an electric range of 22 miles.
Along with its increased range, the Outlander PHEV is getting a boost in power, too. The electric motor’s output gets a boost of 10 percent to deliver 95 horsepower on its own. This brings the total output to 135 horsepower. The electric mode top speed has increased to 84 mph from just 78 mph last year.
The upgrades are not just performance related. The interior gets some updates, too. There will be new leather seats in the front and more climate control vents for back seat passengers to enjoy.
