Japan Opens Orders for Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition

Lancer Evolution Final Edition

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Orders for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition have just been opened (and likely filled) in Japan.

The Final Edition is the last version of the Lancer Evolution X that Mitsubishi will build—ever, according to the manufacturer, so as you might expect it will be highly coveted.

It uses the normal edition’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 291 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque (unfortunately, the early rumors of 400 hp were unfounded).

New additions include sodium-filled exhaust valves, a black chrome radiator grille, gloss black trim on the lower front bumper and air vent bezels, black BBS wheels with high-performance tires, and a model-specific emblem on the trunk lid.

Only 1,000 units of the model will be made available in Japan. We’ll get our own Final Edition in the United States as well, but details aren’t to be expected before the summer. Until then, we’ll just have to wait patiently at Larry Jay Mitsubishi!

Indoor and Outdoor Family Activities in Charlotte, N.C.

It’s that time of year again, when kids are preparing for lazy summer days, and parents are desperately looking for activities to keep them busy and occupied. As it turns out, there’s plenty to keep you and your young ones busy here in Charlotte. The Tennessean points out some fun family activities in Charlotte, N.C.  – both indoors and out.

U.S. National Whitewater Center

For those seeking some adventure, the U.S. National Whitewater Center offers something for everyone. The 500-acre center is located along the Catawba River which includes both woods and water courses. While the center offers some of “the most aggressive lines our whitewater has to offer,” we recommend that families stick with the Family Rafting course, which allows children eight and older to participate.

If you want to skip the water, the center also offers a rock climbing wall, hike and bike trails, and a canopy tour (which includes airborne walkways, tightropes, and a zip line at the end).

Great Wolf Lodge

The Tennessean describes Great Wolf Lodge as a “hunting lodge that’s morphed into something part hotel, part Disneyland,” and once you see the place, you’ll understand.  The lobby features a fake log cabin surrounded by pine trees, while a massive indoor-outdoor waterpark welcome eager kids. Every night animatronic woodland creatures put on musical performances for groups of children.

Located in Concord, it’s an ideal place to stay when you plan your visit to the nearby U.S. National Whitewater Center.

Mac’s Speed Shop

Round out your getaway (or staycation, if you live in the area), with a meal at Mac’s Speed Shop. Dubbed the best barbeque in the area, Mac’s has earned a number of awards and has been featured in the Washington Post and on the Travel Channel.

Here at Larry Jay Mitsubishi, we want to know: what are your favorite family-friendly activities in Charlotte, N.C.? Tell us in the comments!

Mitsubishi March Sales Continue Positive Trend

Mitsubishi March sales mark the 13th consecutive month of year-over-year sales increases! In fact, last month was Mitsubishi’s best March sales since 2007! Mitsubishi totaled 9,764 units sold, accounting for an 8.5 percent increase compared to March of last year.

Leading the way was none-other than the Outlander Sport with total sales of 3,226 units. In addition, the Mirage had its best sales month ever with 2,488 units sold. Mitsubishi hopes to maintain the positive trend moving into the second quarter.

In a recent press release, Executive Vice President MMNA Don Swearingen said, “Demand remains strong for our core models, and Mirage sales show that desire for affordable, economical and reliable transportation are still major purchasing motivators.”

With the 2016 Outlander coming soon, we expect to see the favorite crossover gain even more popularity! If you’re interested in any of the wonderful Mitsubishi models, visit us at Larry Jay Mitsubishi today!

Mitsubishi Stops Production amid Russian Economic Collapse

Many automakers are pulling out or have already pulled out of the failing Russian auto market and now Mitsubishi is joining their ranks. A joint venture by PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors has decided to suspend production temporarily at its Russian factory. The suspension comes after a plunge in sales.

Closing the factory will result in the loss of 100 jobs. PSA Peugeot Citroen will halt production of the Citroen C4 and Peugeot 408 models from the end of April to July 10th. Mitsubishi will stop production of its Outlander and Pajero Sport. The Russian government has agreed to subsidize loans and financing for state bodies in an attempt to support the market.

“Despite the efforts we make, the continuing worsening of the market situation prompts us to make painful decisions,” said PSA Peugeot Citroën.

The Russian economic collapse comes as a result of a weakened ruble. United States and other country’s sanctions over the crisis in Ukraine have hurt the economy. After years of growth reaching over 10% per year, the market dropped in 2014 and it could fall as much as 35% this year. PSA holds 70% of the joint venture while Mitsubishi holds the other 30%.
