Fall is the perfect time to rediscover the sheer joy of driving. It’s also the only time of year to enjoy the beautiful North Carolina colors on display.
Exploring the autumnal landscape usually involves road-tripping, however. So, you’ll need the right car for the job. Luckily, Mitsubishi has you covered. From the fun and efficient 2018 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 to the luxuriously versatile Outlander SUV, there’s definitely a Mitsubishi model to suit each driver.
Due to unseasonably high temperatures at the beginning of the season, experts have pushed back peak fall color dates an average of five days throughout North Carolina. This means you still have plenty of time to plan the perfect fall color road trip and to catch the foliage at its most vibrant.
Along the Blue Ridge Parkway, peak viewing time should be during Oct. 12-25. This includes most of the Great Smoking Mountains National Park, as well as the Boone and Blowing Rock areas.
At slightly lower elevations, such as in the Pisgah National Forest, peak viewing time will be later in the month, around Oct. 24-31.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, less-elevated areas like Gatlinburg and Chimney Rock will boast later peak times. The foliage should be at its most vibrant from Oct. 31 through Nov.13.

From a big, juicy patty to all the toppings that come with it, there’s nothing quite like biting into a delicious burger. Have you ever wondered, though, where you can find the best burgers in the United States? Lucky for us here at Larry Jay Mitsubishi, the best burgers in the nation can be found right in our wonderful state of North Carolina, at Al’s Burger Shack.
Located in Chapel Hill, about two hours away from us here in Charlotte, Al’s was recently awarded the title of Best Burgers in America from Food & Wine magazine and Trip Advisor. It received this award after Trip Advisor analyzed millions of user reviews and rankings. It came out on top mostly due to its signature burger — the Bobo Chili Cheeseburger — which comes toped with chili sauce, coleslaw, onion, yellow mustard, and American cheese.
Beyond its food, Al’s is worth a visit just for the atmosphere alone. Because of its location right in the heart of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill’s campus, this eatery has a laidback feel that is only enhanced by its shack-like décor and its super-friendly staff.
So, if you’re hankering for a delicious burger and find yourself with your time, we here at Larry Jay’s think it’s a great idea to hop in your Mitsubishi and head to Al’s.
If you are looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon this month, you should drive to Mt. Airy and have lunch at the oldest diner in North Carolina. Snappy Lunch served its first meal on North Main Street in 1923 and has been doing it almost every day in the same spot ever since.
When the diner first opened, the town’s population was under 5,000. Today, that number has more than doubled with an estimated 10,347 residents in Mt. Airy. In addition, the area gets its fair share of tourists looking for a taste of Mayberry — the fictional town made famous by Mt. Airy’s own Andy Griffith.
Griffith used to eat at the diner as a young boy and mentioned it frequently in interviews. It even earned a mention in The Andy Griffith Show, making it a key stopping point for fans of the show.
When visiting Snappy Lunch, most people choose the house specialty, the pork chop sandwich. It is a big slab of pork, topped with coleslaw, and squeezed between two buns. It is just as big, messy, and delicious as it sounds.
The diner is opened for breakfast and lunch six days a week. Locals know that if there is still a line at closing time, the diner will stay open until it has served everyone.
