Plug-in hybrid SUVs have become all the rage in recent years with luxury automakers bringing out their premium models one after another. Unfortunately, nearly all of those SUVs, like the BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne, are well out of the price range of the average consumer. Enter the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid.
Starting well under the price of those premium models, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV brings quality and efficiency at an affordable price. Not only does it have a much lower starting price, it’s also eligible for a hefty federal tax credit, plus whatever your state may offer.
Now that we’ve covered just how affordable the new Outlander PHEV is, let’s talk specifications.
The 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV features two full-time electric motors paired with a four-cylinder gasoline engine. A 12 kWh lithium-ion battery pack stores the system’s power. The vehicle recharges using regenerative braking technology, and owners can plug it in at home for overnight charging.
In addition to generating around 197 horsepower, the hybrid powertrain features six regenerative braking modes, an electric-only mode, and Battery Save mode.
Designed for the average driver, the Outlander PHEV brings a standard seven-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, and much more.
We here at Larry Jay Mitsubishi are excited to see the brand’s latest hybrid in person!
