When a new car is born, a new advertising campaign is born as well. It’s one of the best and most efficient ways to spread the news about a fresh addition to the lineup. Mitsubishi recently shared some information about its upcoming ad campaign for the all-new Eclipse Cross.
The campaign is called “A Classic Reborn,” an apt title considering the circumstances surrounding the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, a crossover that slots between the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Outlander Sport models. While its design may be new, its name is not. The original Mitsubishi Eclipse was a beloved sports sedan that was discontinued a few years back.
But the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross was designed to meet more current needs. It’s still sporty in performance and appearance, but can accommodate lifestyles that require additional benefits of a crossover. That’s what Mitsubishi intends to share in its “A Classic Reborn” ad campaign, which will appear on its YouTube Channel and major television networks. Violin and piano play “I Wanna Rock” by Twisted Sister over shots of the Eclipse Cross driving in the night. The mysterious ad will engage the attention of viewers, letting them know that there’s a new Mitsubishi in town.
If you want a happy life with a nice home, good jobs and schools, beautiful scenery, and a high quality of life, you might be inclined to look at the “2018 Best Places to Live” list put together by U.S. News & World Report. If you do take a look, you’ll see that this year’s list includes five North Carolina cities. We couldn’t be prouder!
The highest ranked North Carolina city was Raleigh-Durham, which earned a spot at 13. Charlotte was close behind as number 22, with Asheville on its tail at number 24. Winston-Salem came in at number 43 and Greensboro at number 60.
Some of the biggest factors that go into creating the “Best Places to Live” list include affordability and quality of life. People value finding cities where nice homes are available in a reasonable price range, but they also want areas that are filled with social events, entertainment, delicious restaurants, and lively bars. Each of these North Carolina cities has its own share of qualities that many people look for in a home community. We’re curious about what next year’s list will bring, but we feel confident that Charlotte will continue to be a cherished metropolitan area.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was one of the most beloved Mitsubishi models. This sports sedan had a big following, but it wasn’t enough to keep it in production. The last Evo rolled off the line in 2016. However, we have learned that there is a chance the Mitsubishi Evo is coming back, but in a new form.
Recently, in an interview with Motor1, Mitsubishi’s UK managing director, Lance Bradley, indicated that the Evo nameplate could make a comeback. If it did make a return, he claimed that it would be different than the previous Evo models.
“Our focus is on SUVs and electrified drivetrains, but it’s possible that there could be an option for a more performance-orientated version of one of the models,” Bradley elaborated. “The hybrid market is still developing, but an electric drivetrain is usually quicker than an internal combustion powertrain, so you can have some very exciting electrified drivetrains.”
Bradley went on to say that Evo fans are very attached to the model’s name. If Mitsubishi did resurrect the Evo moniker, it would need to be very careful with its choice. We would expect to see something spectacular that would be true to this ride’s heritage.
While most of us want to drive fuel-efficient cars, they often come with a big price premium, especially fuel-efficient crossovers. That isn’t the case with the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
The Outlander PHEV is an affordable plug-in hybrid that costs a lot less than its luxury hybrid counterparts, even before any tax incentives are considered. Even with its low cost, the Outlander PHEV comes well-equipped with features including leather seating, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Bluetooth® connectivity, and heated front seats.
It is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a pair of 60-kilowatt electric motors. Combined, the hybrid powertrain has an output of 197 horsepower. When fully charged, Mitsubishi says the Outlander PHEV has an electric driving range of 22 miles. Recharging can be done in a variety of ways, but when using DC fast-charging, you can get up to an 80% charge in less than half an hour.
The Outlander PHEV also comes standard with Super All-Wheel Control for superior handling in all road conditions. Inside, the cabin offers seating for five passengers with plenty of room for cargo in the rear.

Singing in the car — we’ve all done it. Some people belt out their favorite tunes proudly, while others only do it when no one is around. Regardless of your singing preferences, there is one thing that drivers who sing tend to have in common — they’re often healthier because singing in the car can, in some cases, boost your health.
According to Life Hack, singing caused a release of chemicals in your brain. Scientists believe that singing releases oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin in small quantities to give you a heightened sense of positivity and enjoyment. Therefore, singing in the car can actually improve mental health.
We at Larry Jay Mitsubishi were also surprised to learn that singing in the car can improve cardiovascular and lung health. Singing loudly — which most people do behind the wheel — can impel you to use chest and lung muscles that aren’t usually active throughout the day. In fact, because most people sing alone in the car, there’s no pressure to sing “well”; ergo, you may sing louder and more frequently in the car.
Singing with others can also be great for psychological reasons. Harmonizing with your friends is a great way to strengthen bonds, and people who sing together tend to form closer relationships than those who don’t participate in social activities.
Headlight car care is easy to overlook, but it’s something that becomes especially important as your car gets older. Headlights can sometimes acquire a yellow film as your car ages, which can limit visibility. You should also perform routine headlight care to ensure that one of your bulbs isn’t out, as it can be surprisingly easy to miss at night.
According to Your Mechanic, headlights can sometimes turn yellow or opaque (or both) over time because the plastic materials tends to oxidize. Headlights can also become hazy if there is grit and grime buildup that isn’t removed. To fix this, you can rub headlights with toothpaste to help remove oxidation and dirt. You’ll want to rinse off the headlights when finished, and be sure to apply car wax to protect lights from future damage.
Replacing bulbs can be a little more complicated. For those who aren’t that mechanically inclined, you may want to bring your car to Larry Jay Mitsubishi for maintenance. Headlights can be removed if you loosen a series of screws that secure the headlight cover (you may need to pop the hood), and then unscrew and replace the bulb. Be sure to consult an auto expert and your owner’s manual to ensure you’re using the right bulb.
The history of Mitsubishi racing goes back to the 1960s, when the automaker entered the Mitsubishi 500 Super DeLuxe in the Macau Grand Prix in 1962. Initially a marketing tactic to promote the brand’s first post-war vehicles, the 500 Super DeLuxe destroyed the competition, taking the top four places in the Under 750 cc category.
Mitsubishi’s racing success continued through the years in more than just circuit racing—in the 1970s it dazzled the off-road racing world, sweeping the top spots in the East African Safari Rally and the Southern Cross Rally, multiple times. Since it started competing in the World Rally Championship in 1973, Mitsubishi has won 34 titles.
Mitsubishi is also the most winning automaker in Dakar Rally history, with 12 wins from the late 1980s to 2007. These are just a few of Mitsubishi’s many racing wins throughout its long history. To find out more about Mitsubishi’s performance vehicles, give us a call at Larry Jay Mitsubishi!
Having working, clear headlights is important year round, but it’s especially necessary in the wintertime, when it gets dark earlier and inclement weather can seriously hurt visibility. Follow these tips on headlight maintenance to make your car as safe as possible this season.
If you have a burnt out headlight, it should be easy to replace it yourself. How to access the bulb will depend on what kind of car you have (usually it’s through the hood), but you can find this information in your owner’s manual or even look up a guide online to help you replace it.
You don’t have to wait until your headlight burns out to replace it! You can tell when a headlight is getting weaker by examining it. If one side is brighter than the other or there are any other defects or irregularities, it’s time to change it. You should always replace headlights in pairs to avoid creating an uneven field of vision where one light is dimmer than the other.
Cleaning the cover on your headlights is also important! The covers can get dirty and foggy, which reduces visibility. Soap might not do the trick with caked on dirt, so using toothpaste can help thanks to the grit in it. Just put it on a cloth and use it like you would soap, and then rinse the headlight.
