Mitsubishi Evo Is Coming Back in a New Form

Mitsubishi Evo is coming back - Larry Jay Mitsubishi Charlotte, NC

2015 Lancer Evolution Shown

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was one of the most beloved Mitsubishi models. This sports sedan had a big following, but it wasn’t enough to keep it in production. The last Evo rolled off the line in 2016. However, we have learned that there is a chance the Mitsubishi Evo is coming back, but in a new form.

Recently, in an interview with Motor1, Mitsubishi’s UK managing director, Lance Bradley, indicated that the Evo nameplate could make a comeback. If it did make a return, he claimed that it would be different than the previous Evo models.

“Our focus is on SUVs and electrified drivetrains, but it’s possible that there could be an option for a more performance-orientated version of one of the models,” Bradley elaborated. “The hybrid market is still developing, but an electric drivetrain is usually quicker than an internal combustion powertrain, so you can have some very exciting electrified drivetrains.”

Bradley went on to say that Evo fans are very attached to the model’s name. If Mitsubishi did resurrect the Evo moniker, it would need to be very careful with its choice. We would expect to see something spectacular that would be true to this ride’s heritage.

Say Hello – and Goodbye – to the Lancer Evolution Final Edition in America

Lancer Evolution Final Edition

The Final Edition is going fast, so get yours today!

The Lancer Evo’s story in the US is a generations-long saga of engineering triumph and stylistic innovations, but it has reached its final chapter.

Mitsubishi has recently announced the Lancer Evolution Final Edition in America, a vehicle that gives a proud goodbye to an automotive legend.

The Lancer Evolution Final Edition in America will feature 303 horsepower (an increase of 12 horsepower from the last model) and 305 lbs of torque. Our favorite modification for the Final Edition is probably the new Bilstein shocks wrapped with all-around Eibach springs and two-piece Brembo front-axle calipers – talk about a smooth ride.

The Final Edition will retain that classic Lancer look, with the exaggerated spoiler and athletic posture. It will feature dark-chrome Enkei wheels to match the dark-chrome grille setting and black aluminum roof. You can get the last Evo in four colors: Pearl White, Rally Red, Mercury Greay, or Octane Blue.

Only 1,600 Lancer Evo Final Editions will be sold at a starting cost of $37,995, so hurry on down to Larry Jay Mitsubishi and get yours before they’re gone!

Japan Opens Orders for Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

Orders for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition have just been opened (and likely filled) in Japan.

The Final Edition is the last version of the Lancer Evolution X that Mitsubishi will build—ever, according to the manufacturer, so as you might expect it will be highly coveted.

It uses the normal edition’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 291 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque (unfortunately, the early rumors of 400 hp were unfounded).

New additions include sodium-filled exhaust valves, a black chrome radiator grille, gloss black trim on the lower front bumper and air vent bezels, black BBS wheels with high-performance tires, and a model-specific emblem on the trunk lid.

Only 1,000 units of the model will be made available in Japan. We’ll get our own Final Edition in the United States as well, but details aren’t to be expected before the summer. Until then, we’ll just have to wait patiently at Larry Jay Mitsubishi!

Final Edition 2015 Lancer Evolution X Churns Out 473 Horsepower

Since Mitsubishi announced it would be discontinuing its Lancer Evolution line, fans of the model have been counting down the days until the Japanese carmaker releases the final edition of the performance car. Now, the wait is over. Mitsubishi has finally announced its Tokyo Auto Salon lineup and it includes the final edition 2015 Lancer Evolution X.

While Mitsubishi is calling this model the Lancer Evolution X Final Concept, we know this will be the car that enters production later this year. This edition will be offered in limited production numbers of only 2,000 to 2,500 units, but each of these are expected to pack a significant punch. A 2.0-liter turbocharged engine will churn out a massive 473 horsepower and come equipped with a HKS turbocharger from one of the best-known aftermarket brands in the world.

The Final Edition 2015 Lancer Evolution X is set to arrive in showrooms later in 2015. Check back to Larry Jay Mitsubishi in the future for updates on the final Lancer Evolution.

2015 Mitsubishi Lancer

In like a lion…out like a lion! It’s not a secret that Mitsubishi is sending the Lancer Evolution home packing. Everyone’s favorite tuner car is heading to retirement. But it’s not going down without a fight.

Torque News was kind enough to let us know the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will be receiving the special edition treatment. Part of what will make this Evolution so special is it will be more powerful. Don Swearingen, executive VP of Mitsubishi North America, said it will come with “extra horsepower and other performance improvements.”

However, Mitsubishi will limit production to only 2,000-2,500 units, so expect them to sell like hotcakes. The automaker will put the special versions together in the last six months of production. Torque News predicts that this special edition Evolution be “fast and in high demand,” and why wouldn’t it, considering it’s the last chance to get one before they’re gone.

We here at Larry Jay Mitsubishi are looking forward to seeing this Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Special Edition on the road before retirement.
