Why the Evo Was Discontinued and How Mitsubishi Will Replace It

In its prime, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo was a regular competitor in the market for road and rally cars. The rivalry between the Evo and Subaru’s Impreza- based WRX was heated, and it was always interesting to see what each company would do to outperform the other.

Unfortunately, Mitsubishi has decided to discontinue the Evo to focus on other concepts and designs. While this is disappointing for Evo fans everywhere, Mitsubishi has some pretty cool plans for the future.

Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV

This next-generation full-size SUV is poised to change the way that people think about SUVs. It’s based on a front engine, rear-wheel layout plug-in hybrid EV system, and it will feature advanced “connected car” technology.

Mitsubishi Concept AR

This next-generation multi-purpose vehicle utilizes a hybrid system, and it will feature a danger detection system to keep drivers safe.

Mitsubishi Concept GR-HEV

This Sport Utility Truck seamlessly blends all of the great features of Mitsubishi’s Triton, while also providing the comfort and style of an SUV.

Mitsubishi Concept CA-MiEV

The design of this vehicle is a strong indication of the direction in which Mitsubishi believes that cars are going. It is a purely electric vehicle with a deep, sophisticated, and clean exterior.

While it’s disappointing that Mitsubishi discontinued the Evo, there are plenty of great designs ahead for fans to look forward to!

Say Hello – and Goodbye – to the Lancer Evolution Final Edition in America

Lancer Evolution Final Edition

The Final Edition is going fast, so get yours today!

The Lancer Evo’s story in the US is a generations-long saga of engineering triumph and stylistic innovations, but it has reached its final chapter.

Mitsubishi has recently announced the Lancer Evolution Final Edition in America, a vehicle that gives a proud goodbye to an automotive legend.

The Lancer Evolution Final Edition in America will feature 303 horsepower (an increase of 12 horsepower from the last model) and 305 lbs of torque. Our favorite modification for the Final Edition is probably the new Bilstein shocks wrapped with all-around Eibach springs and two-piece Brembo front-axle calipers – talk about a smooth ride.

The Final Edition will retain that classic Lancer look, with the exaggerated spoiler and athletic posture. It will feature dark-chrome Enkei wheels to match the dark-chrome grille setting and black aluminum roof. You can get the last Evo in four colors: Pearl White, Rally Red, Mercury Greay, or Octane Blue.

Only 1,600 Lancer Evo Final Editions will be sold at a starting cost of $37,995, so hurry on down to Larry Jay Mitsubishi and get yours before they’re gone!

Mitsubishi EVO Successor to be “King of Electric Vehicles”

Rumor has it that Mitsubishi has plans to create a brand new high performance hybrid CUV that will draw heavily from the XR-PHEV II Concept revealed at the Geneva Motor Show – and will be the “king of electric vehicles,” according to Tetsuro Aikawa, Mitsubishi president.

“In the future, we would like to launch such a vehicle with Evo characteristics. In Japanese, when you pronounce ‘Oh’ [in Evo], it means ‘king,’” explained the Mitsubishi president. “So we would like to launch this type of car, featuring EV and PHEV technology, which is the ultimate of its kind. ‘EV’ for electric vehicle, ‘O’ for king – Evo.”

The Mitsubishi EVO successor will allegedly contain a performance oriented gasoline-electric plug-in hybrid four-wheel-drive powertrain mounted to a lighter and faster CUV body based on the next-generation ASX crossover and imbued with technology from the Mitsubishi Pikes Peak racing program.
